USCG Designated Employer Representative (DER) Training
Our USCG Designated Employer Representative (DER) Training course is designed for maritime employers responsible for administering drug and alcohol testing programs under U.S. Coast Guard regulations (46 CFR Parts 4 and 16).
This course provides practical instruction on managing testing programs for safety-sensitive maritime personnel, including crewmembers, vessel operators, and other covered employees. Participants will learn how to oversee pre-employment, random, reasonable cause, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up testing while maintaining compliance with Coast Guard regulations and DOT procedures.
The training also covers Serious Marine Incident (SMI) testing requirements, managing positive test results and refusals, working with collection sites, laboratories, Medical Review Officers (MROs), and maintaining required records and documentation.
